Boiler efficiency

Boiler: Steam boiler is basically a closed vessel in which water is heated until the water is converted into steam at the required pressure. This is the most basic definition of a boiler.

Working principle of boiler

The basic working principle of boiler is very simple and easy to understand. A boiler is essentially a closed vessel inside which water is stored. The fuel (usually coal) is burned in a furnace and hot gases are produced. These hot gases come in contact with water where the heat of these hot gases is transferred to water and as a result steam is generated in the boiler. Then this steam is conveyed to the turbine of the thermal power plant.

Steam Boiler Efficiency (50 TPH)

Steam Quantity 28412.9
Feed Water Quantity 29265.3
Steam temperature 470
Enthalpy of steam 799.689
Feed water temperature 127
Enthalpy of feed water 128
Rice husk quantity 5861.04
Calorific value 3200
Pith Quantity 1591
Calorific value 2200
Boiler Efficiency  = {(Steam Qty × Enthalpy of steam)-(Feed water Qty × Enthalpy of water)} /
{(Rice husk × calorific value)+(Pith × calorific value)}
Boiler Efficiency= ((28412.9*799.689) – (29265.3*128)) / ((5861.04*3200)+(1591*2200)
Ƞ boiler  = 0.852621
Boiler Efficiency 85.26 %
