Health, Safety, and Environment are key concerns for companies.
HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Management System is a company or organization management structure with the responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes, and resources for implementing health, safety, and environment (HSE) management to minimize accidental hazards in the workplace. HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) is a key concern for companies and society as a whole.
Health, safety, and the environment are the key to success and sustainability in any business. A new challenge was created in March 2022 when we were planning for big projects with a big-size team. One of the major challenges in our paper industry projects is the mismatch of risk concepts in HSE and project management as a result of negligence in HSE matters. We understand we have to work hard to create a new foundation in the area of project HSE management.
As a first step, we create a strategy and plan for the next year such as creating systems & standards for the project, preparing project HSE policy, guidelines, manuals, objectives, training, and many more important steps to create a strong HSE culture in the project team. It is always challenging to handle 250 + no workers without a good HSE system and culture. The biggest achievement is we have completed our project without a single first aid case reported; also we have conducted record no of well-being HSE training (till now 250+ workers and employees are trained through different HSE training) within the last 8 months.
Any severity of consequences includes six types of impacts in a project such as cost, time, quality, human force, changes in work breakdown structure, and creation of an emergency at the highest level. The system we have created in the last nine months is surely a challenge to sustain it. The HSE Improvements in the plant are also taken as a Kaizen project during the visit of Gopinath Prabhu ji. To be relevant and relatable, our teams need to embrace the change and fall in line with the upcoming trends so that we can contribute well in a collaborative way. Our goal is clear, but only when we need to achieve it safely.
