Dear team,

As we move closer to the end of 2023, it is a pleasure to update on the progress on Innovations and R&D teams contributions towards the growth of Pakka.

On flexi packaging, we have been able to scale up the first version of Flexi Pack from Lab scale to Commercial Productization. This achievement is an exemplar of fast learning, thinking ahead, and a great team effort to achieve a focused goal. We express our gratitude to the larger Pakka organization for the timely support and guidance provided in our sprint to achieve the aim of regenerative packaging for a cleaner planet. The team is working towards creating high performing and cost-efficient structures in the next generation of Flexi Pack products.

Hope, all of you were able to enjoy the Diwali chocolate which contained our first Flexi Pack product launch consisting of regenerative paper-based packaging.

The team has been constantly updating themselves on state of art science and technology through participation in national and international conferences. On this aspect, I attended a course on “Fundamentals of Barrier Technology for Fibre-based Packaging” in Ljublijana, Slovenia during November 2023. This course was enriching as it covered the entire value chain Science and Technology, legislation, and end of life of fibre based Flexi Pack products. The travel also helped to network and connect with key players in this domain.

Paperex 2023 was another key stepping stone for Pakka Innovations. To my knowledge, Pakka was the first to display Innovations stall in their booth in a global exhibition. For the team, this was an opportunity to get an understanding of customer insights, present and demonstrate our commitment to create new products in food packaging and services and get connected to the larger community. The team worked hard and showed the following innovations to the consumers:

  1. FLEXI PACK
  2. RIGIDS: Non-soggy delivery containers with novel lidding designs
  3. RIGIDS: Home Compostable Cutlery (Spoon and Fork)
  4. Beverage Cup

We connected with IISc. in person during the Leadership Retreat to fast track the agreements and move the Innovations Team to the i-Research Hub in IISc. campus. This movement will enable us to cross pollinate and stay ahead of the curve in the creation new products and establish the state of art of Innovations lab in Sustainable packaging.

Innovations teams are excited about the New Year to create numerous novel innovations supporting the growth, topline, and bottom-line of Pakka. A warm New Year Greetings to the entire Pakka fraternity.
