In a workshop conducted by Dr. Alok Mandarshan, valuable insights were shared about happy hormones and their impact on mental health. He explained that our body has four main happy hormones—Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, and Endorphins—which help us feel joy, satisfaction, and energy.
Hormone | Characteristics | Effects of Imbalance | Ways to Balance |
Dopamine (Reward Hormone) | Provides motivation and a sense of achievement | Excess can lead to addiction and risky behavior; deficiency causes laziness and sadness | Exercise, setting goals, healthy diet, listening to music |
Serotonin (Mood Stabilizer) | Maintains emotional balance and happiness | Deficiency can cause depression, anxiety, and irritability | Meditation, spending time in sunlight, yoga, healthy food |
Oxytocin (Love Hormone) | Increases social bonding and trust | Low levels can lead to loneliness, trust issues, and social isolation | Spending time with loved ones, hugging, helping others |
Endorphins (Natural Painkiller) | Reduces pain and boosts happiness | Deficiency can cause stress, physical pain, and mood swings | Laughing, exercising, eating dark chocolate, listening to music, engaging in favorite activities |
This workshop was an excellent initiative to spread awareness about the importance of mental well-being and happy hormones, encouraging everyone to take better care of their mental and physical health.
